EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment)

(1) Overview

EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) is designed to support the ground test of electronic devices for satellite by measuring their performance and functionality while analyzing any design flaws in terms of both hardware and software.

AP Satellite Inc. has localized the development of EGSE for testing the payload's major electronic devices while undertaking the KOMPSAT-3 and KOMPSAT-3A projects. Currently, we are in the process of developing the BUS EGSE for geostationary satellites GEOKOMPSAT-2A&B and next-generation Compact Advanced Satellite, CAS500-1&2.

(2) Classification of EGSE

- BUS EGSE for ground testing electronic devices devices (e.g. power meter, TC&R)
- XDM EGSE and IDHU EGSE for ground testing payload's electronic devices (video processing device, X-band transmitter and antenna)
- Ground testing support equipment for launching sites

(3) BUS EGSE

BUS EGSE is designed to support ground testing of bus system's electronic devices (e.g. power meter, TC&R) in terms of their performance and functionality during the AIT period.

Currently, AP Satellite Inc. is undertaking the following projects:

- Next-generation Compact Advanced Satellite 500-1&2 (CAS500-1&2): localization of the development of TC&R EGSE (RFTS, BBTS)
- Multipurpose Satellite no. 6 (KOMPSAT-6): localization of the development of BUS EGSE(PLTS, CMTS, SAS)
- Geostationary Satellites no. 2A and 2B (GEOKOMPSAT-2A&2B): localization of the development of BUS and TC&R EGSE (UMTS, BBTS, SAS, RFTS, OLTS)

AP Satellite Inc. has the following technologies in the field of BUS EGSE:

- Telecommand & Telemetry transmission, reception and analysis technology
- Satellite RF device test and validation technology
- Satellite electronic device testing, validation and design flaw analysis technology
- Testing data storage and analysis technology

(4) XDM EGSE

X-band EGSE is a ground support system designed for testing the components of the high-speed data transmission system, XDM(X-band Downlink Module) such as XTX (X-band Transmitter), MAS (MUX and Switch), APM (Antenna Pointing Module) and X-band antenna.

Telematics Monitoring System

AP Satellite Inc. has achieved the following development milestones:

- Multipurpose Satellite no. 6 (KOMPSAT-6): development of SAR EGSE (SISE/PISE) (in process)
- Multipurpose Satellite no. 3A (KOMPSAT-3A): development of XDM EGSE
- Multipurpose Satellite no. 3 (KOMPSAT-3): development of XDM EGSE

XDM EGSE has the following features:

- X-band downlink RF performance testing (e.g. RF power, Noise figure, Frequency counter)
- X-band dual channel signal reception (LHCP and RHCP simultaneously)
- XDM power supply
- QPSK demodulation: 320Mbps(I channel: 160Mbps, Q channel: 160Mbps) processing
- Generation of control signals
- TC/TM data transmission and reception
- GUI-based integrated testing software
